Daniel J. “DJ” Russell
Daniel is a Bay Area native who moved to Colorado in 1999. Daniel grew up playing nearly every sport that he could including hockey, football, running, lacrosse, soccer, etc. Daniel is in the teachers education program at UCCS and utilizes his passion for students to teach both in the classroom and on the track. He will complete his Bachelors of Arts in Secondary Education-History in the spring of 2017.
As a USATF Level 1 certified coach Daniel has crowned three of the last four 4A boys high jump champions, as well as numerous state placers and qualifiers. Daniel is in his sixth year coaching high school track, and his fourth year coaching jumps and hurdles at Cheyenne Mountain High School. Daniel also coaches club track for Exceler8 TC in Monument, Colorado.
Through his passion for people Daniel has gotten the opportunity to do non-profit work all over the world. His work has taken him to remote villages in Nepal to work in orphanages and help with earthquake relief, Okinawa, Japan to work with people in the streets, and the bush of Uganda to set up a ministry sponsoring children for school.
