Wednesday April 16 Training your heart for speed, distance and life this presentation will discuss the importance of monitoring your heart rate while you exercise. Using formulas is inaccurate and dangerous. Learn valuable tips in heart rate training for speed and endurance as well as preventing over-training. Handouts will be available and there will be a free raffle for a heart rate monitor.
Wednesday May 7 Fuel for Speed Have you ever heard the phrase; you are what you eat? If so, you know the importance of choosing the right fuel for performance. This presentation will focus on the importance of appropriate caloric consumption for optimal performance, pre / post race fueling and nutrition for health. Handouts will be provided as well as free nutritional samples for all those in attendance.
Wednesday June 11 Injury Prevention Workshop Injured, dont quit there is an alternative! Better yet learn valuable tricks to prevent injury. This workshop will focus on tips/techniques to the prevent injury in a variety of sports (swimming, cycling, running etc.). Healthcare professionals will be on hand to discuss the pearls of injury prevention and treatment with demonstrations of various techniques. Handouts will be provided and a free raffle for injury prevention tools will be held.
Wednesday July 9 Training for Fall this presentation will focus on the design of a fall training program regardless of sport or distance. Fundamental concepts of training will be incorporated with practical tips for safe and efficient training. This presentation is a must for road/trail runners, cross country runners etc. A great way for young athletes to get ready for fall sports. Coaches welcome. Handouts and door prizes will be distributed.
